Green Festival

We, at Storm Festival, took it upon ourselves to making sure that the festival was ‘green’ in every possible sense. Starting from the green environment, to the placement of dustbins at regular intervals, everything was planned meticulously. In the beginning, there were quite a few cases when people said that Storm Festival will spoil the natural beauty of Coorg. Hence, the stakes were upped, and we had to live up to the expectations.

The various measures that were undertaken to protect the environment around us include the following:

• All the waste was separated and recycled locally.
• Greener materials were introduced.
• Anything sold in the festival was without the packaging.
• Eco-friendly cleaning products were used in the washrooms and the    toilets.
• Only re-usable plates and cutlery were used.
• The tree cover at the festival wasn’t disturbed in any manner.
• Dustbins were placed at regular intervals.
• Volunteers took it upon themselves to clear any piece of rubbish at    the venue, and they did quite a good job!

As one can see, the measures that we took to protect the nature paid off rich dividends, and most of our detractors were proved wrong. Storm Festival lived up to its reputation and has set a benchmark for other events of a similar nature, when it comes to ‘going green’.
